Army Goody Bag Idea: Show Them You Care
Without Breaking Your Budget

We have a group of soldiers leaving for a few weeks of training. I was entrusted with the task of putting together small goody bags for 30 National Guardsmen. I had no idea what to do. One of the other moms suggested I get a candy bar and attach a label to it as they had done that in the past, but I wanted to do something a little different. I needed to keep it super simple, nothing elaborate or what I would consider Pinterest worthy, but something the guys would appreciate. I did search Pinterest for ideas. I wanted to find an idea with a phrase or slogan that would not insult their manhood. (We’re talking about infantry soldiers here.) I did find a few ideas but they were all intended for wives who were sending packages to their husbands. Almost everything I saw was romantic and I needed something appropriate for wives and moms.
They would be spending a lot of time on a plane so I came up with something super simple and appropriate.
I decided to do chewing gum goody bags. I filled quart sized Zip Loc Bags with three different packages of gum and then added loose mints. Everything was individually wrapped and unopened.
When I finished filling 30 bags with gum and mints, I designed a cute label using PicMonkey. I didn’t have sticky labels so I printed the labels off on regular paper, cut them out, and placed them inside the Zip Loc Bags.
I was happy with the label and although I wish I were a more creative person, this turned out to be something that our men would appreciate and I know they will enjoy the contents.
I wanted to share this in case you might be looking for an idea for your military service man or woman or your service man or woman’s company but maybe you don’t want it to be fancy, expensive, or time consuming.
Sometimes the simplest things mean the most.
